postheadericon SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando is ranked among one of our favorite stops in Orlando. We’ve been Season Passholders for years and have been many, many times! Given the choice, this will almost always be the number 1 place to go when we visit Orlando! (It might take second place to its sister park-Aquatica)!

At SeaWorld Orlando you will encounter animals large and small in every nook and cranny, many that you can get up close and personal with!  Our first stop is usually Stingray Lagoon where we buy a tray of fish ($4) and feed the rays. The girls love to pet them and watch them swim around and around!  Be careful…they like to splash! Then we head over to Dolphin Cove where you can grab a tray of food and feed the dolphins.

The Dolphin Nursery is in a different location and you can get right up and see the babies swimming with their Mamas!  Don’t forget to stop by there, it’s so cute!

postheadericon Happy Monday

Happy Monday!! This weekend was pretty laid back for us, but that is okay because we have a very busy August ahead of us. We went to the library and went out on the lake yesterday! It was so beautiful outside. Now I am starting to plan our upcoming trips and I find myself wondering where did the time go? I can’t believe how fast the summer flew by. School supply lists came out already and in just one short month the kids are back in school! In August we are planning a family trip down to Florida and then I am taking a girls trip to California (Laguna Beach) Yay!! Between the long car ride and the long flight I will need a lot of reading material and I am so excited that finally got a series that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now…..The Hunger Games Trilogy!! I know I’m a little behind, but things have been busy and I don’t get a chance to read as often as I like during the summer! I hope I like this series as much as I enjoyed the Twilight Saga. Stay tuned…I’ll let you know how it goes 🙂

I Love Comments! Let me know what you’re reading!!!

postheadericon Linville – Stay Cool and See the Mountains from the Inside or Take a Hike to see The Most Photographed Waterfall in NC

North Carolina is full of wonderful things to see.  The scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway will show you beauty and grace.  It is filled with small mountain towns, scenic overlooks, and recreational opportunities!

If you get the opportunity~make a stop at Linville Caverns and then take a hike to see the huge, majestic Linville Falls.

Linville Caverns lie deep inside the Humpback Mountain and are the only caverns in NC.  They offer a guided 35-40 minute tour of the inside of the cavern telling you about the history and showing you the work of nature!

postheadericon A Perfect Way to Spend an Afternoon

Last weekend we were just out and about and decided to visit Latta Equestrian Center in Huntersville, NC and it turned out to be the perfect way to fill our afternoon. We stopped by the General Store and picked up a few bags of biscuits for only $1 each and then walked through the stables feeding the horses the yummy treats! (Anyone can do it and you don’t need reservations). For us it was a perfect, spontaneous way to spend our afternoon! The horses love getting fed and despite their size, they are very gentle. Some didn’t mind getting a rub while others just wanted the treat! It’s funny because some of them have learned to get your attention by actually kicking the stable door as if to say, “Hey Kid, I’m over here. Give me a Biscuit.” My girls thought it was so funny to hear that as they were walking away!

postheadericon A Reflection of The Happiest Place on Earth – Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Growing up in Florida, Disney was a hop, skip, and jump away and I spent a lot of time there.  I have a lot of great memories of the park and now my girls do, too!  It’s A Small World is still a family favorite and my girls sing the song long after we’ve left the park.  20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was replaced with the Hundred Acre Wood, but the rest of the staples still remain! Over the past seven years we’ve been numerous time and I want to reflect on some of our experiences and share some of the tips we’ve learned along the way.

postheadericon North Carolina Balloon Festival

*Update*  See the 2011 BalloonFest post here:  http://www.travelandphotographytoday.com/carolinaballoonfest

Last year was the first, but not the last, year that we got to experience the Annual North Carolina Balloon Festival in Statesville, NC.  This event was so fun.  The kids got to get up close with tons of hot air balloons and watch in awe as they ascended into the beautiful blue Autumn sky!  Each year this event is held at the Statesville Regional Airport and is a whole weekend of family filled fun!  There is a kid zone (free), food, wine, and ofcourse hot air balloons!  Get there early and set up your blankets and chairs.  We went on Friday night, the first night it begins.  This is the only free evening.  The girls loved walking around the different booths and playing the games in the kid zone.  When the balloons started blowing up they couldn’t believe how big they actually were!

postheadericon A Truly Unique Experience – Lazy 5 Ranch

It’s not every day that you get to get up close and personal with giraffes, water buffalo, ostrich, pigs, deer, zebra, and many other animals, but at Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville, NC that is exactly what you get to do!  This drive thru park allows you to either drive your own vehicle or take a horse drawn wagon ride through the wide open ranch giving you a truly unique experience.  There are countless species of animals from six different continents that you get to feed and touch.  They all roam freely and seem very content getting fed all day long…what a life, huh?!
