postheadericon Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies located in Gatlinburg, TN is a fun half day adventure for the whole family!  We got to visit the aquarium as a side trip ending our wonderful weekend in Bryson City, NC!  We drove through the snowy mountains to this hustling town that has just about every tourist attraction you can imagine.

The kiddos love the huge walk through/ride through tunnel with a huge variety of sea creatures swimming by.  You will see anything and everything from sharks, sword fish, and eels, to beautiful schools of fish.

postheadericon The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad ~ North Carolina

As part of our relaxing mountain getaway we decided to take a ride on the The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad.  We were looking for that slow, laid back atmosphere where we could sit back and enjoy the scenery through the wintry mountains, have a nice lunch in Dillsboro (the layover town), and then get back on the train and have a nice relaxing ride back to Bryson City.  The GSMR gave us just that on that perfectly sunny Saturday morning!

postheadericon Making Memories at the “Memory Maker”

I had my heart set on a relaxing, quiet, wintery getaway and that is exactly what I got this weekend when we stayed in Western North Carolina.  I booked a lovely cabin through Hidden Creek Cabins and we stayed in “Memory Maker.”  As the name implies, memories were most certainly made!  We enjoyed strolling through the quaint little town of of Bryson City, driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and even taking a ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad.  During our time in the cabin, which wasn’t long enough (sigh), we enjoyed playing cards and charades by the cozy fire and eating breakfast for dinner.

postheadericon SeaWorld and Busch Gardens PreSchool Pass

We love amusement parks!  We were passholders to Busch Gardens and SeaWorld for many years and enjoyed visiting all of the parks in both Virginia and Florida.   We are conveniently located between the two states and have had our fill of both.  Aquatica Water Park if a favorite of my kiddos and Shamu gives Mickey a run for his money if you ask them 🙂

Well right now SeaWorld is offering a deal that you can not pass up.  They are offering a FREE annual pass for any child under 5 for a limited time (In my opinion children under 5 should be free regardless, but that’s a different story)  and there is no purchase necessary.  Just fill out the registration form and submit.  You will get an E-Ticket to print out and you will need a birth certificate or passport to redeem.  For more details or to take advantage of this offer head over to
