postheadericon Montage Laguna Beach California

Montage Laguna Beach is set on an oceanfront bluff with the most amazing views of the Pacific Ocean I’ve ever seen!  Although on our trip we didn’t get to stay here, we did enjoy a nice lunch at Mosaic Bar and Grille, a relaxing terrace restaurant overlooked the ocean!  It’s known for its salads, grilled sandwiches, and fresh daily seafood and it overlooked the Mosaic Pool!

postheadericon Clearwater Beach, Florida

Clearwater Beach, Florida boasts miles of white sand beaches and warm blue waters!  It is a popular spot among vacation goers and locals alike!  I grew up about 40 minutes away from this beach and have fond memories from my frequent visits and fun experiences!

Recently, though, it has become more widely known because of Winter the Dolphin and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.  You may have heard the story of the young dolphin that was rescued off of the coast of Florida after her tail was tangled in a crab trap and was brought to CMA where it was later amputated.  She has become world-famous  and is the star of the new movie Dolphin Tale, where her story will tug on your heart and inspire you with her bravery and resilience!

postheadericon Humpback Whales in Australia

My mother-in-law and I share the same passion of whale watching and when she got back from Australia last September and showed me her pictures of a whale tour she went on I was completely in awe!

She’s been on a couple different whale watching tours in various parts of the USA (including Alaska and Oregon), but she says this one was, by far, the most fantastic one she’s ever experienced!

Each year, during winter, humpback whales migrate from Antarctic waters to the warm waters of the tropics for calving.  They pass through South Island New Zealand and many arrive in Hervey Bay around late July.  They  remain until November when they begin their return to the southern ocean.

postheadericon GSMR Deal and Hidden Creek Cabins

I am excited to share that the trip that we took a couple of weeks ago on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad  is today’s Groupon Deal!  Take a look at this great deal:

  http://www.groupon.com/r/uu6319155

  • For $15, you get a children’s (ages 2–12) standard-class ticket on the Nantahala Gorge train line (a $30.74 value).
  • For $25, you get an adult standard-class ticket on the Nantahala Gorge train line (a $51.94 value).
  • All ticket prices include a 6% historic preservation fee.

We got to visit Dillsboro on our trip, but we’ve done the Nantahala Gorge Trip before and had a blast!  We sat in the open car and packed the kids bathing suits.  When we arrived in at the NOC we got lunch and played in the Nantahala River.  We watched the kayakers and white water rafters go by and walked along the river.

If you are looking for a great place to stay while in Bryson City, NC I really recommend Hidden Creek Cabins!  We stayed in “Memory Maker” and loved everything about it including the closeness to Deep Creek and the railroad.

postheadericon Mini Lasagna Bites

Just in time for the Superbowl, these mini lasagna bites are a must have appetizer for the big game day.  They are easy to make and your guests will love them (and love you for making them).
