The Banyan Tree

One of the coolest trees in Maui is the Banyan Tree located in front of the  Lahaina Courthouse.  It’s quite impressive, spanning nearly an entire city block and towering more than 60 feet high!   It has 12 major trunks in addition to its huge core.  It is a great place to take a stroll, cool of from the sun, or sit and read under the dangling vines.

Honolua Bay is located on Maui’s northwest shore and it’s not only known for pristine snorkeling and scuba diving in the calm summer months, but also for its hollow, powerful waves in the winter high surf season! 

The bay is part of the Mokuleia Marine Life Conservation District so there is no shortage of marine life to see.  On any given day you might spot octopus, squid, turtles, rays, eels, and lots of other colorful, tropical fish.  One of my favorites was a huge spiky puffer fish!

Puu Pehe (Sweetheart Rock) sits just off of the southern coast of Lanai, right between the picturesque Hulopoe Bay and the popular snorkel site of Manele Bay.  It is one of Lanai’s most popular landmarks and as you approach the main boat harbor, Manele Bay, you will see the enormous rock just ahead of you.
