Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa

On our recent trip to Maui we decided to stay at the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa for the second time!  A couple years ago my husband and I stayed here and fell in love with the resort and knew when we returned with our kids we’d want to stay again!

One of the most popular beaches on Maui is Kaanapali Beach and Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa is perfectly situated at the end where black lava rock meets the ocean.  This popular snorkeling spot known as Black Rock is one of the many reasons we love this resort!   When you combine comfortable rooms, expansive grounds, an amazing pool, and a beach that offers both a sandy bottom and amazing snorkeling with a beautiful tropical reef and fish you have to perfect recipe for an unforgettable Maui vacation!

postheadericon Daytona Beach with Kids: Overnight Stay @ The Shores Resort and Spa

Who:  My husband, myself, and our two girls!

What and Where:  The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach, Florida

Why:  We were cruising out of Miami, Florida and it was the perfect location for us to stop overnight on our long drive from North Carolina to Miami.  It was a little more than a half way point, about 7 hours from Charlotte, NC, but we knew the area well and wanted to insure a great start to our vacation!

postheadericon Hilton Head with Kids: Fabulous Family Resort @ Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort

Room with Amenities

They have 295 studio suites, 8 traditional suites, and 20 luxury first floor and oceanfront suites available at this resort!  Our room at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort was a studio suite overlooking the garden and it had a large balcony to sit and enjoy the calmness of the resort!  It was a spacious 530 square feet and had a mini kitchen with a microwave, sink, coffee maker, and mini fridge.  It was  very nicely decorated in a subtle, yet elegant style with all of the amenities that you can expect from a four star hotel and more!

I loved that there were more places to sit than just the bed!  This is truly a huge hotel room.  This nice sitting area was a popular spot for the kids as well as the balcony.  When we were grabbing a bite to eat it was so nice to have a table to prepare snacks!

The bathroom was also very spacious with dual sinks.  One was actually inside the shower room and the other was outside!  This is super convenient for three girls getting ready at the same time!

Three Fabulous Pools

The resort has two family pools, a splash pad, and an adult pool…..I think the photos speak for themselves…take a look!

This zero entry family pool is amazing!  I love all of the lounge chairs and umbrellas!  There are also two great hot tubs right next to it as well as a pool bar with yummy pina coladas!

Splash Pad Fun!

Let’s Not Forget about the Beach!

I honestly have no idea or good reason why it’s taken us this long to get to Hilton Head.  After all, we only live 4 hours away.  The beach is perfect for taking long walks, building sand castles, and my kids personal favorite…boogie boarding!  The waves were just the right size!

Friendly Horseshoe Crab!

Take a Peek Around the Resort Grounds

I love the open feel of the resort!  Nice wide hallways and open centers filled with landscape gave it that true resort feel!

Chess Anyone?

A perfect spot to roast some marshmallows!

Choosing the Area to Stay While in Hilton Head

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina is a popular family getaway destination that offers an endless selection of hotels, private homes, villas, resorts, and condos.  Choosing the right one can be an exhausting task!  The first step is to decide which area of the island is best for you.  There are various gated communities around the island commonly referred to as plantations. The most popular ones or the ones that allow short term rentals or have hotels are Sea Pines, Palmetto Dunes, Port Royal Plantation, Shipyard Plantation, Forest Beach, and Folly Beach.  I highly recommend staying at an oceanfront property and we had a wonderful experience at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront ResortClean, spacious rooms, a great private beach, wonderful pools, on site activities, and an attentive, friendly staff made this the perfect spot for our family!

A few Favorite Highlights:

  • The ease of getting to the beach made the short getaway so relaxing!
  • The towel stand by the pool was perfect.  I loved that we could simply trade our towels at any time.  It’s so nice to come off of the beach and get a fresh towel for the pool.
  • There are friendly staff members EVERYWHERE!

postheadericon Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront

Hilton San Francisco

During our recent trip to San Francisco – one of the greatest cities in the USA – we stayed at the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront.

Why Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront

Like my previous trips, I did a lot of research looking for a clean, convenient, and affordable place to stay for our long weekend getaway.  What I found out was that in order to stay at a place that met all three points of my criteria- in the heart of the city- I was going to shell out a lot more that I was originally thinking.  The deeper I dove into my research I realized that staying at an airport location was not only a great way to save some cash, but it was also convenient for the amount of time we were staying and a great way to see more than just the city of San Francisco.

The Room

A cozy Double Executive Floor room with access to the private lounge overlooking the San Francisco Bay!

The Concierge Lounge –

We usually try and stay at places with a kitchen because it’s so convenient, but this hotel offered something much better!  If you book an executive floor room you have access to the concierge lounge where they not only have complimentary breakfast, but also complimentary hors d’oeuvres in the evening followed by complimentary cookies.  (The chocolate chip cookies may have been the best I’ve ever had by the way!)  This is perfect for business travelers and families.  It’s the perfect way to start the day!

The breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, bagels, muffins, and fresh fruit.  Drinks consisted of Starbucks coffee as well as a variety of teas and juices and the fridge was always stocked with bottled water and soda.  The helpful staff was attentive and friendly.

For my family this was a huge bonus.  It was great not having to worry about getting out right away to eat!  Everyone had nice full bellies which not only saved us a little money, but made the mornings more enjoyable.

Convenient Location

When we arrived in SFO it was just after midnight and there was nothing that I wanted to do more than hit the sack!  We were so happy to leave the airport and be at the hotel within minutes.  A free hotel shuttle is provided so you don’t have to worry about navigating or parking.  The location of the hotel is very convenient for a long weekend stay to explore San Francisco. The property is located on the bay just minutes from the airport so being able to look out the window and see the planes landing was an added bonus!

By staying at this location we discovered the small city of Burlingame, too.  The small downtown area is full of shopping and restaurants and was a pleasant alternative to the busy city of San Fran.

Overall

We had a fantastic stay!  The hotel was clean, comfortable, and convenient.  It suited our needs exactly and I would absolutely stay there again.

Cypress Pointe Grande Villas

After just returning from a wonderful week in Orlando, Florida, I’m already ready to go back.  I guess it’s because I didn’t want to leave in the first place.  It might be because we were so comfortably settled into our hotel or maybe it’s because we still had things we wanted to do.    Either way, I’m excited to share our action packed week with you…starting with where we stayed!!  Over the past few years we’ve probably stayed at Cypress Pointe Grande Villas four times (because my wonderful in-laws are owners) and I’ve never been disappointed.

Greensprings Plantation Pool

Greensprings Plantation is your home away from home conveniently located just minutes from the major attractions in Williamsburg, Virginia!  We’ve stayed a few times and have always had a great experience.  The rooms are more like town homes and we were booked in a two bedroom, two bathroom unit (which was bigger than my first apartment).  It was comfortable, clean, and very relaxing!
