An African American man represents the builders of the first railroads in Charlotte, begun in the 1850's, leading to the city's status as a transportation hub. The number 1401 commemorates a steam locomotive named "Charlotte" which once pulled trains through the city. A second element picturing an eagle with feathers encircling its back represents air transportation!

postheadericon The Comedy Zone at Galway Hooker

OK, so I’m a little behind!  With the holidays and a new puppy things have been kind of crazy, but I have to share with you this gem of a place that Spencer and I love going to!  It’s called Galway Hooker and every Tuesday night there is a comedy show upstairs at the Comedy Zone.  Just a few days ago Spencer wrote on his blog that laughter is the best medicine and he is so right!  Being the smarty pants he is he went on about all of the health benefits, but I’m going to just say…GO.  You will laugh you butt off and be so glad that you did.

postheadericon Patterson Farm, Inc. Pumpkin Patch Tours

Are you looking for a pumpkin patch in North Carolina?  Last weekend my family enjoyed visiting Patterson Farm, Inc. which is a fun working farm located in Mount Ulla, NC.  I say it is a working farm because it isn’t just your ordinary pumpkin patch.  They harvest different crops year round and offer tours and activities for each and are actually one of the largest tomato growers in the state!  To us, though, they are a family tradition spot of picking strawberries and pumpkins each year!  During the fall months we go to experience the pumpkin patch, corn maze, tractor-pulled hay rides, pig races, animal feedings, pony rides, and  super-fun playground including a corn filled “sand box.”  My girls love doing all of the activities and then finishing up with some cold ice cream cones!
