postheadericon North Carolina: Bryson City

I had my heart set on a relaxing, quiet, wintery getaway and that is exactly what I got this weekend when we stayed in Western North Carolina. I booked a lovely cabin through Hidden Creek Cabins and we stayed in “Memory Maker.” As the name implies, memories were most certainly made! We enjoyed strolling through the quaint little town of of Bryson City, driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and even taking a ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. During our time in the cabin, which wasn’t long enough (sigh), we enjoyed playing cards and charades by the cozy fire and eating breakfast for dinner.

The Cabin:

Memory Maker was everything we hoped it would be and more. It is in the perfect location, just minutes from downtown Bryson City and the base of Deep Creek, a very popular tubing creek. From the wrap around porch you can hear the water below. It had a hot tub and bbq grill, but unfortunately we didn’t get to use either on this trip. On our next stay I’ll be sure to bring my swim suit and favorite bottle of wine and take a dip!

The kitchen was totally stocked!

The loft is where the girls slept. They loved having their own bathroom and space up stairs and settled right in! At night they got to pick a movie from the cabin’s library which they thought was really great!

The master bedroom was on the main level just behind the kitchen. It had doors leading to the big porch and hot tub. The views are amazing and you can hear the rushing creek below if you leave the door open!

The views are amazing! Going in the winter really lets you see everything because the trees are bare. You can see and certainly hear the creek below from the porch and across the mountain you can see horses grazing on the mountain side! We also really loved that the driveway was paved allowing us to get up easily.

Bryson City is such a cute little town. It’s population is just 1,353 (2009). There are lots of shops and restaurants in town and a few quaint little book stores, bakeries, and ice cream shops! If you want to take a relaxing stroll this is the place to do it!

So…if you’re like me you’ve probably dreamed of the perfect Smoky Mountain Getaway. I’m sure it includes being nestled away in a cozy log cabin in the woods, an outdoorsy woodsy smell, a front porch with spectacular views, and waking up early to a big home-cooked breakfast of pancakes loaded with warm maple syrup, bacon, eggs, and a hot cup of coffee in your hand! Well this is the place 🙂 Bryson City is the perfect little mountain town that is so close to so many attractions and you have endless options of things to do and places to see.
