Sheraton Maui View

We just got back from an AMAZING week in Maui, Hawaii~somewhat of a celebration to 9 blissful years of marriage! Happy Anniversary Spencer! I’m so excited to share where we stayed because we absolutely loved it!

Why Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa

As usual, I had done some research looking for a resort that suited exactly what we were looking for: great location, great pool, and great beach. We decided that we wanted to stay on Kaanapali Beach because we love snorkeling and there are tons of great spots within a short drive, but the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa is situated right on Kaanapali Beach where it meets the famous Black Rock, a place that is known for great snorkeling and being a frequently visited spot by honu (sea turtles)! When we asked each other if we would like to walk right out of our hotel room to a beautiful reef and beach we said YES PLEASE…sign us up!

Check-In and Our Room

We arrived at the hotel late in the evening (after 17 hours of traveling) and we were greeted by a super friendly valet guy who unloaded us while we checked in. Valet is complimentary the first night so we took advantage of that and we were in our room in a snap. We were upgraded to an oceanfront room with the most amazing views we could have wished for! We overlooked the ocean, Black Rock, and the pool and in the distance were other Hawaiian Islands.

The room was quite comfortable and the pillows were dreamy! I love a hotel with a great pillow! It makes me so happy! We woke up to the sound of crashing waves and birds singing ever morning.

The room had a flatscreen TV, coffee maker, small refrigerator, and wi-fi!

Sheraton Maui Bathroom

The bathroom was spacious with plenty of counter space for all our stuff. Under the counter is a great table with drawers for extra storage and a couple shelves. There is also a safe in the closet!

The Heavenly Pool!

The pool is wonderful. Beautiful. Relaxing. Lush. A Tropical Oasis! It meanders through tropical gardens and under wooden bridges passing you by waterfalls in a lazy river flow! There are two poolside bars, a jacuzzi, and a kids pool and my only regret is that we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it to it’s fullest! Everyone should schedule that into their’s paradise! I wish I were back there right now!

Notice how the pool wraps around the entire lush garden! It just goes on and on!

Cliff Dive Ceremony

We really enjoyed watching the Daily Cliff Dive Ceremony at sunset. ! It begins at the Cliff Dive Bar and then out onto the beach…a true Hawaiian experience!

Legend tells us the last chief of Maui, Kahekili (Thunderer), proved his spiritual strength by leaping from sacred Pu’u Keka’a to the Pacific. With sunset painting the sky, a young cliff diver honors his heritage each evening by re-tracing footsteps in the sand on Kaanapali Beach. A chant of old Hawai’i begins the progression of our warrior; the echo of the conch shell announces his arrival. He leaves a trail of glowing torches surrounding the lagoon as he makes his way to Black Rock. Upon reaching the summit, he offers his torch to the ocean below, casts his flower lei into the sea; and finally takes the breathtaking dive from Black Rock into the rolling surf below.

Snorkeling at Black Rock was Everything We Hoped For and Then Some!

It’s no secret…we love snorkeling! We went up and down the west coast of Maui and the snorkeling right at the footsteps of our hotel was one of the best spots. It was one of the reasons we wanted to stay at the Sheraton Maui, Black Rock is known to be one of the greatest spots on the island and we loved how convienient it was to just wake up, throw on our suits and jump right in the clear aqua water! There is a huge assortment of marine life just off shore and around the tip of Black Rock. The wall of coral meets a sandy bottom and there were more fish here than most of the other places that we went! Visibility is good, even in the deep water (up to 25 feet deep).

Location Location Location

Kaanapali Beach is stunning. It may be one of the best beaches on the island and the contrast of colors will take your breath away! The sand is soft, the water is beautiful turquoise, and the backdrop is Lanai and Molokai. There are over 3 miles of shoreline to roam and you are just minutes from anything you could possibly need. Whaler’s Village (shopping and dining) is just a short 10 minute walk and Lahaina (Original capital of Hawaii) is a short 10 minute drive! You have grocery stores, food, restaurants, and great snorkeling spots all around and the view, oh my!
