Lake Morton (Swan Lake) in Lakeland, Florida is a place that you will find many different types of birds including seagulls, pelicans, ducks, and geese. It is better known, though, to be the home of the majestic swans hence the nickname Swan Lake. You will find both black swans and white swans on this little romantic gem of a lake located in Lakeland’s historic district! It is between Lake Mirror and Lake Hollingsworth and home to the annual Mayfaire by-the-Lake, an outdoors Art Festival held every Mother’s Day weekend.
It holds a very special place in my heart because it is the place where Spencer and I got married over eight years ago! We chose this spot because of its romantic feel and now we enjoy taking our girls to visit it and show them the place where we tied the knot! I think the girls are more interested in feeding the birds than hearing about where we got married, though
I have brave little kids, but I don’t recommend doing this. The birds can be very aggressive. This is a huge swan!
We love to visit Hollis Garden after Swan Lake and if you are ever in the area with children you must check Common Ground Inclusive Playground. Every city should have a park this awesome!
Happy Swan Feeding!
